Friday Lunch: Tinkering with Turbines
Fri 5 May, 1pm, Brander Kitchen
with Dr Annabel Pinker
Annabel Pinker is a Social Anthropologist based at the James Hutton Institute in Aberdeen. Supported by a Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship, she is carrying out ethnographic research exploring the relationship between energy decentralisation and social and political change in Scotland. Annabel will talk about the experimental dimensions of changing energy arrangements, looking in particular at an off-grid peninsula on the west coast, where locally crafted micro-wind turbines have been deployed as a key source of electricity for over 30 years.
All welcome for lunch, talk and discussion.
