Sanaa Gateja, alongside Xenson Znja, joined us on an artistic pilgrimage from Uganda, hoping to unearth the legacy of Rhynie-born explorer, scientist and missionary to Uganda, Alexander MacKay (1849-1890).
Sanaa researched the historic and contemporary conditions and traditions of Rhynie and the local area, whilst attempting to transfuse the cultures of Uganda and Scotland together, briefly, through the celebration of MacKay’s life. This cross formed part of a performance-led Spirit Walk up the Tap o’ Noth.
