Singing the Deveron, 2013

Forbes Arms, Milltown of Rothiemay

With and Against the Flow was a mapping project developed during Spring 2013, seeking to walk the length of the Deveron river, from both directions. Inspired by history, music, landscape and people who have lived or worked on the river, musician Jake Williams and craft artist Anne Murray used the walking experience to create new work and engage with the communities they met along the way.

On display here is the publication Singing the Deveron by Jake Williams, which holds tunes, ballads and melodies that Jake gathered along the walk, open at the tune for Rothiemay.
