Artist's House
The Artist's House is our dedicated living and working space in the centre of Huntly.
It offers comfortable, private and accessible accommodation for artists and visitors to Deveron Projects. Refurbished in 2022, the Artist's House is bright and warm, featuring a large light-filled and open plan live-workspace on the upper floor.
Accommodation
There are two bedrooms on the ground floor of the Artist's House. The main bedroom is spacious, including storage and featuring a window looking out onto the quiet path outside. The other bedroom is a 'bothy' bedroom - the bed reaches wall to wall - but is cosy and has a wee window looking out to the rear of the building.
The bathroom is also on the ground floor. It is a wet room - a tiled room with a shower with level access.
On the second floor there is an equipped kitchen and live-work space. There is a lift and stairs between floors.
Workspace
The live-work space on the upper floor is light-filled with high ceilings. There is a mix of seating and desk/table space, including a large table, cosy desk nook, sofa and floor cushions/beanbags.
The space is ideal for reading and writing, editing and researching, project development, digital practice, practicing, resting, testing new approaches to making work and/or reflecting on existing work or learning. Small-scale painting, printing, sculpture and textile-based work is also possible. The large table can be wheeled to the side to make room for movement/ dance work.
Families and collaborators
The Artist's House is uniquely suited for artists who are looking to travel with their families (chosen/bio) or with collaborators.
Accessibility
We take a flexible and responsive approach to supporting artists’ residency, and understand that your needs may change throughout the course of your residency, as you get to know the place and start to settle in.
We will invite you to complete a Hospitality Form before you arrive in Huntly, where you can share some access needs if desired. We also welcome access riders, if you have one. If you would prefer to have an informal conversation about your needs, prior or during residency then please just ask.
The Artist's House accessibility guide is available online here. If you have further questions about the accessibility of the space please get in touch by emailing info@deveron-projects.com or calling 01466 794494.
