Art Road Trip: Experiments in Time
“As the river becomes the ocean and the ocean becomes the rain and the rain becomes the river – water’s memory lives on in this cycle, taking with it traces of different bodies of water that meet time and time again” – Natasha Ruwona
Join artist-in-residence Natasha Ruwona for a walk in time, following water and its timeless memory. The rivers Deveron and Bogie shape our geography, marking the edge of Huntly and meeting just north of the town. Two bodies of water, travelling with varying volumes, speeds and times tumble together as they become one. Do they remember meeting before? The moment when the two rivers merge continues, never ending. Time slows, stands still.
Natasha invites you to join her on a walk towards this moment, this place, to imagine a new relationship with time. One beyond what we know already – confined by profit, fatalism and definition. As Toni Morrison writes, “the act of imagination is bound up with memory”. As the memories of the water flow, we will experiment with slowness, feeling and small acts, towards imagining alternative timelines.
This event is free, but booking is essential. Please book a space via this link.
