Art Road Trip: Meditations on The Left Hand of Darkness
Science fiction offers routes into other worlds. Transported to fantastical landscapes and environments, through time and space, novels such as Ursula Le Guin’s The Left Hand of Darkness (1969) build paths into imagining alternative possibilities- other times, cultures, technologies and societies. Engrossed in stories like this, we can almost feel what it might be like to live differently, in the worlds and landscapes described. How does this change our perceptions of where we are now?
This walk with artist Fi Thomson will follow some of these paths, journeying into our personal futures and memories of a place to transform somewhere familiar into a new world. Using walking as a way to think through, to process our ideas and feelings, and move towards new experiences or ideas, Fi will lead a walk that invites us to notice and explore where transformation can take place.
This event is free, but booking is essential. Please book a space via this link.
