The Lubare and the Boat

Deveron Arts present a café and creative hub featuring artists' collaboration Rhynie Woman and Ugandan artist Sanaa Gateja. The hub is focused on and inspired by Alexander Mackay, a missionary from Rhynie, Aberdeenshire who travelled to Uganda with a printing press, paper and cloth for trading and a collapsible boat, the Daisy, which was carried on foot for over a year to Lake Victoria.

Rhynie Woman is an artists' collaboration from Rhynie, which acts as a bridge between the public and a theme or project through the use of food and the creation of a hub.

Sanaa Gateja is an artist and designer from Uganda, he introduced the craft of recycled paper jewellery making in Uganda.
