February Farmers' Market 2023
This year marks 20 years that folks in Scotland have had the Right to Roam, and a year of the Right to Grow campaign! At this month's Farmers' Market, we were exploring the access we have to spaces that we can walk, sleep, and grow in. The Right to Roam has meant a freedom to the land, and at our stall we were celebrating this, questioning how it could be better, and showing solidarity with the Right to Roam campaign in England. Alongside this, we were chatting about Right to Grow, a campaign aiming to give people the right to grow food on suitable public sector land... including Huntly! Where would you grow vegetables in Huntly, and what would they be? Come and mark it on our map or make a badge to share your favourite things to grow. About our Farmers' Market stall
On the first Saturday of every month, Huntly Square is filled with local producers and organisations for our town's Farmers' Market, including a stall from us! Swing by for activities that are there to ask questions and get people talking about goings on local to global, always alongside tea. You can find out about the other stalls at the market, including honey, cheese, bread and fish, at the Huntly Farmers' Market facebook page. We don't organise the Huntly Farmers' Market, so if you're keen to know about the wider running of the market, give them a message on facebook! Home ProgrammeThis event is part of the Home Programme, a series of regular community events taking place at Deveron Projects programmed by our Art & Community Worker. The Home Programme celebrates local knowledge and experience, and explores what it's like to live and work in and around Huntly. It includes Friday Lunch, as well as the monthly Food Chain cookery workshop, and a stall at the Huntly Farmers' Market. If you'd like to contribute to the Home Programme, or know someone who you'd love to hear from, then get in touch with our Art & Community Worker Jess on jess@deveron-projects.com.
