Food Chain: Soda Bread & Stinging Nettle Soup

Food Chain is a monthly community-led cookery workshop, celebrating different cultures and cuisines. It's an informal, fun and friendly event, in which a member of our local community in Huntly shares a recipe that means something to them and reminds them of 'home'. This month, we will have a special focus on local ingredients with Sarah Morbey, local farmer and miller. Sarah will introduce us to the process of growing and milling wheat in Aberdeenshire and to her flour produced at Coldwells Organic Farm in Insch. Together we will learn how to make a quick and easy soda bread using Sarah’s flour, and while it is in the oven, how to make a delicious soup from foraged stinging nettles. Once we have cooked the dishes, we will sit and enjoy eating them together.
This Food Chain forms part of Sarah’s project to establish a local grain hub in Huntly. We will be sharing more about her project, including ways to get involved and learn more about the local production of wheat and flour.
