Food Chain: Potato Dauphinoise & Baked Alaska

Food Chain is a monthly community-led cookery workshop, celebrating different cultures and cuisines. It's an informal, fun and friendly event, in which a member of our local community in Huntly, or a visitor, shares a recipe that means something to them and reminds them of 'home'. For this month’s Food Chain, we’ll learn two favourite recipes from Liz and Jenny. Liz will show us how to make her delicious, yet simple, potato dauphinoise recipe. Dauphinoise is layered potatoes with cream, cheese and garlic. It's carb-y, cheesy and creamy – yum! We will eat it as a main dish, though it also makes a great side. While the dauphinoise are in the oven, Jenny will lead us through the fun process of making baked Alaksa, a retro dessert featuring cold vanilla ice-cream baked in a meringue shell with jam sponge.
Once we have cooked the dishes together, we will sit and enjoy eating them together.
