Food Chain: Tacos Dorados de Picadillo

Food Chain is our monthly community-led cookery workshop, celebrating the diversity of cultures and cuisines within our local communities. It's an informal, fun and friendly event, in which a member of our local community in Huntly, shares a recipe that means something to them and reminds them of 'home'.
For this month’s Food Chain, Paulina will be sharing her recipe for a Mexican staple dish called tacos dorados de picadillo. The dish consists of fried and rolled corn tortillas – the ‘tacos dorados’, stuffed with beef or lentil ‘picadillo’. The name picadillo comes from the Spanish word, ‘picar’ meaning to mince, because all the ingredients are chopped finely. Paulina will show us her version of picadillo, which includes vegetables with either beef mince or lentils. The tacos are topped with lettuce and soured cream / vegan soured cream.Once we have cooked the dish together, we will sit and enjoy eating it together.
