Friday Lunch: Atlantic Salmon Trust - Project Deveron

At this Friday Lunch we heard from Jonathon from the Atlantic Salmon Trust and Richie of the Deveron, Bogie & Isla Rivers Trust on their collaboration on Project Deveron - a new catchment-scale salmon restoration initiative, which aims to benefit other wildlife as well as local communities.Jonathon Muir is Head of Communications at the Atlantic Salmon Trust. He'll speak about the importance of restoring wild Atlantic salmon as a keystone species and why a strategic ‘landscape’ scale approach is needed: what that means in practice, and how local community groups can support and get involved.Richie Miller is Director of the Deveron, Bogie & Isla Rivers Charitable Trust and Deveron District Salmon Fishery Board. Richie will outline the local issues facing wild salmon in the Deveron catchment, and our vision for the future – a river system with an increasing wild salmon population, as well as improvements to wider biodiversity and climate resilience which will also benefit people living along the Deveron’s banks. Lunch: leek & tattie soup, cheese scones
