Friday Lunch: Building Confidence
Building confidence in learning new things, gaining employment or navigating life challenges is a vital skill that not everyone has the opportunity to develop in a safe, supportive environment. At this Friday Lunch, Ed Garrett from Aberdeenshire Council, will share how the Adult Learning and Communities team in Huntly supports this need. The team offers a range of person-centred learning opportunities, from support with core skills such as reading, writing and numbers to employability courses and computer support drop-ins. These initiatives deliver much needed support to individuals and communities, supporting them build their capacity, strengthen their voices and learn life skills. Ed provides insight into the impact that the programme is having and how people can be referred to the service.
Come along to hear about Ed’s work and enjoy a free tasty meal – no booking required just turn up. Lunch will be baked tatties with toppings - gluten free and vegan options available.

About Friday Lunch
The sharing of food is a great leveller. On the second and fourth Friday of the month, we invite people who live or work in and around Huntly to speak about things they are passionate about – this could include their work, a project, an area of research or hobby. Topics are broad and change every time, from nature to community development, writing to food, among many others.
About the Home Programme
This event is part of our Home programme. Through regular events and artists’ residencies the Home programme celebrates everyday and creative practices of cooking and eating, chatting and caring, sharing skills and learning together. Through this work we can build more complex understandings of Huntly and its place in the world. The Home programme includes Friday Lunch, as well as the monthly Food Chain cookery workshop and a stall at the Huntly Farmers' Market. If you'd like to contribute to the Home programme, or know someone who you'd love to hear from, then get in touch with us on info@deveron-projects.com.
