Friday Lunch: Garioch Women for Change
On St. Andrew's Day, we heard about how community group, Garioch Women for Change, are working towards a more positive, engaged Scotland from a grass-roots local level.
GWfC was created by like-minded friends who aim to encourage Education, Empowerment, Political Participation and Social Inclusion, starting in their home community of the Garioch, the area around the town of Inverurie, Aberdeenshire. So far they have held a large conference of varied political and cultural speakers, celebrating the legacy of the Suffragettes and hosted a local discussion on the possible impacts of Brexit in collaboration with the Scottish Rural Parliament. Lynne and Lindy of GWfC also spoke of their next project to highlight the far-reaching value of the NHS.
