Garden Residency: Guided Herbal Tea Tasting

This event was a guided sensory experience, drawing on our intuitive knowledge. Through our smell, taste and feeling, learned about the medicinal properties of a plant, led by artist and herbalist Ju Scott.  Starting with a short grounding exercise, we explored a mystery tea, made with plants from the Brander Garden. Only plants that are safe for everyone to consume in this quantity will be used. Ju lead us through a series of questions, helping uncover and share the experience of the tea, after which the plant's identity will be revealed. We then discovered what everyone in the group knows about the plant and see what the books say, comparing our experience of tasting it with the traditional recorded knowledge.  This event formed part of Ju Scott's Garden Residency in the Brander Garden. Throughout September, Ju will be sharing unknown and unheard aspects of the garden, including the properties of the plants living within. For more information about Ju's Garden Residency see the project page.
