Good Gut! Closing Event

Drop by the Brander Garden for the closing event in our current project, Good Gut! with artist-in-residence Margherita Soldati. Over the last three months, Margherita has been exploring the microbial connections between our guts and the soil under our feet. From a ‘Soil Spa’ at Huntly Farmer’s Market to workshops on fermentation, soil networks and sensing care, the project has created space for looking at, feeling and even smelling soil to learn about the connections we can’t see. To end the project, these drop-in events will offer a chance to explore a series of ‘soil clocks’ made by Margherita in collaboration with local growers and food producers in their gardens, allotments and smallholdings. Made from soil collected in and around Huntly, the soil clocks reveal microbial activity in the soil through vibrant colours, bubbles and smells. Together we will be mapping the soils and microbes, adding reflections and further knowledge of what soils are like in each location, towards a final creative (and imagined) soil map of the local area. Accessibility~ This event takes place in the Brander Garden, behind Huntly Library at the top of McVeagh Street. The entrance to the garden is here on google maps, what3words: crush.influence.carver~ There is an accessibility guide for the garden online here.
