Huntly Hairst: Mini Quilt Workshop
The Huntly Hairst is an annual festival celebrating Huntly’s local and food traditions.. It takes the form of an extended Farmers' Market across the town square, central streets and community buildings, with over 50 stalls showcasing local produce and crafts. There are cookery demonstrations and competitions, including The World Stovies Championship, Huntly's Room to Run race and even more events throughout the week. Check out the Hairst website for full details of the festival! On the day we will be sharing a full programme of events and workshops in the Brander Community Garden and Square Deal Community Hub. Across both locations, we’re delving into the roles that gardening, printing and quilting have in community building and histories of resistance. Find out more about our full programme here. In Square Deal, we're exploring quilting and its radical histories. As part of the day, Huntly Sewcial organisers and quilters Rosemary McCafferty and Colin Brandi will be hosting a mini quilt making workshop, suitable for beginners and improvers. Learn how to make the simple ‘Sword Dance’ quilt block pattern and create a mini quilt to take home. All materials and tools will be provided, although if you are welcome to bring along your own.
