You’re warmly invited to join us for a collaborative study session exploring language, queerness, and belonging through South Asian writing with Rotterdam-based library, study and press border!border! and Huntly Queer Book Club. 

Together we'll read Of Dark Rooms and Foreign Languages by Momina Masood and two poems by Adwaita Das, featured in the anthology Beyond Binaries by Thirunangai Press, alongside a selection of supplementary readings and poetry. We'll also talk about the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Amendment Act which came into law in 2026 in India. We will use this as a starting point to reflect on the experiences of trans people in India and the UK, thinking together about how language, identity, and policy shape our lives. 

Everyone in the LGBTQIA+ community and allies are welcome. Huntly Queer Book Club is a friendly group and there is no pressure to have read anything before the event. About border!border! study

border!border! study is an offering in which we come together to participate in and rehearse ideas of collective liberation. through group study sessions, materials from the library (and extensions of the same) are activated. the sessions challenge traditional and normative ways of learning by making space for engagement that is slow, disruptive and seasonal. border!border! study shape-shifts into formats of gathering under shady trees, lengthy walks with pauses, collective cooking, making and mending with hands, low-resource screenings and listening sessions.

border!border! is a Rotterdam-based library, study and press that centers subcontinental/south asian thoughts, voices and struggles in published and unpublished forms. border!border! particularly amplifies marginalised, oppressed, counter-institutional thoughts which have historically faced and continue to face systemic discrimination and erasure. it is informed by an evolving anti-caste, anti-racist, anti-profit, anti-militarisation and anti-occupation position.
