March Farmers’ Market
“Roots in the past are branches of the future. The lens of our present perspective can distort the past ...”
– Ron Brander
Remembering always involves some forgetting. Our lives are filled with thousands of experiences that our brains need to edit out or prioritise. On the individual level this process of remembering and forgetting can be helpful to make sense of who we are and where we are heading. When magnified to the scale of a community or society, what is forgotten has a bigger significance and it requires more effort to keep certain histories alive.
For the March Huntly Framers’ Market we will be playing memory in a collaborative card game called Hidden Huntly. Similar to the card game ‘pairs’ the aim of Hidden Huntly is to remember what's hidden on the cards and collect matching pairs but in this version the cards reveal little known memories of Huntly. Market goers are also invited to contribute a hidden memory by creating their own card that gets added to the pack. Over time the game gets larger and larger with more and more memories revealed. As a collaborative game, Hidden Huntly celebrates local knowledge and experiences, and will help build a complex understanding of Huntly and its place in the world.
Come play the game or drop by for a hot cuppa and a chat, just find us in The Square opposite Nickel ‘N’ Dime.
This activity is free and open to the public, no booking required.

About the Home Market Stall
Huntly is a former market town, to which people have long travelled to buy, sell and trade. Markets are equally important for connecting with others, sharing news, organising and celebrating together. Deveron Projects’ stall at Huntly Farmers’ Market contributes to these roots by sharing free activities, initiatives and artist projects that explore and hold space for the vital social role of marketplaces.
Each month we share aspects of our work through family-friendly activities and conversation on our stall. From artist’s projects, to our community hub or gardens, local issues to international connections, and much more, drop by to learn what’s going on, to share your perspectives and opinions, and get involved with Deveron Projects.
About the Home Programme
This event is part of our HOME Programme. Through regular events and artists’ residencies, HOME supports the everyday and creative practices of cooking and eating, chatting and caring, sharing skills and learning together. HOME regular events include Friday Lunch, as well as the monthly Food Chain and a stall at the Huntly Farmers' Market. These events celebrate local knowledge and experiences, and explore what it's like to live and work in and around Huntly. Through this work we aim to build more complex understandings of Huntly and its place in the world. If you'd like to contribute to the HOME Programme, or know someone who you'd love to hear from, then get in touch with us on: info@deveron-projects.com.
