November Farmers Market: Mutual Care, Collective Power
What part do you play in caring for others? What kinds of care would you like to receive? How can we keep each other safe? From a cuppa with a neighbour to attending protests with a friend, mutual care comes in all shapes and sizes, from the big to the small. Drop by our stall at the Huntly Farmers Market as we mull over these questions with artist-in-residence at Deveron Projects Keng Keng Tang. We'll be writing our thoughts onto a colourful selection of fabric patches, creating textiles that will be used for a community quilt. We will also have herbal teas to warm us up, and there will be the opportunity to create a lino print using blocks made at our recent Block Printing for Resistance workshop, led by Keng Keng. This is a free drop-in family friendly activity and everyone is welcome! Our stall will be finishing promptly at 1pm to allow time for us to get to the Communities Against Fascism counter protest taking place in Banff at 2pm - we encourage all our community members to head along to this too. This event forms part of Keng Keng Tang’s Square Deal residency at Deveron Projects. Over 6 months, Keng Keng will be weaving mutual care, togetherness and rest, through the five senses in Huntly’s creative community hub. More information about their residency can be found here.
