November Farmers' Market

The November Farmers' Market lied on the main weekend of COP26, the United Nations climate change conference happening in Glasgow 31st October - 12th November. During the conference, world leaders (known as 'parties') came together to work out how we can restore and protect our planet from further destruction, and ensure that climate justice is guaranteed for everyone and everything that calls planet earth its home. In Glasgow many events, marches, talks, workshops, exhibitions and protests were taking place. In Huntly, we brought action to the Farmers' Market to continue a discussion about the climate crisis near and far from our town.

Visitors to the market could come:Listen to John Bolland of Huntly Climate Action give readings of his poems, at quarter past every hour.Write and post a Postcard to the Parties letting the political and climate leaders know your thoughts and demands.Add to a 'Huntly Agreement', the beginnings of a local version of the 2015 Paris Agreement - an international treaty on climate change. Make their own cardboard placard or protest sign to carry around with you, take to a protest or display in your window.Warm their hands, not the globe with some herbal tea from our garden.  For local events and information on climate change, check out Huntly Climate Action and NESCAN (North East Scotland Climate Action Network).
