7 April 2026, 3pm – 5pm, Square Deal

Open Studio

Learn more about the community quilt and see it being made by artist-in-residence Keng Keng Tang. For just a couple of days, you can drop by Square Deal community hub while it is being used by Keng Keng as a temporary artist’s studio. Since October, regular Quilting Circles and workshops have seen the creation of hand-stitched patchworks, naturally dyed fabric, appliqued blocks, and mended textiles. Now, Keng Keng is bringing this colourful collection of community-made textiles together to create a quilt that embodies community care, rest, and collectivity and you are welcome to come along and get involved. Keng Keng will be working in Square Deal, available to chat about the quilt and answer any questions about the making process. Have a cuppa and flick through a collectionof books that have inspired this community quilt.
