Slow Marathon 2019
'The Ba'Hill, the Battlehill, the Clashmach and the Bin, they all form a circle and Huntly lies within'.
The Slow Marathon was a curated walking event celebrating the human pace. In 2019, we explored themes of poetry and our common right to roam through a route inspired by this local poem. It is a circle of beautiful and varied terrain - including woodland, farmland, hills, and the banks of the river Deveron - starting and finishing in Huntly.
Co-curated by Norma D Hunter, the event invited participants to challenge their endurance and participate in artistic activities that helped them appreciate the local environment and our access to it.

/ About the Slow Marathon
Slow Marathon, co-concepted with Ethiopian artist Mihret Kebede in 2012, was our annual walking event up until the 2020 Covid Slow Marathon: Under One Sky. Celebrating the human pace, it is both an endurance event as well as a poetic act that brings together friendship, physical activity and an appreciation of our varied landscape.
