Love Is: Child Protection Awareness Raising and Response Training

Love is poster

The first workshop in our public training programme, Love Is... will focus on Child Protection awareness raising and response.

In line with the new National Guidance for Child Protection in Scotland 2021, this training will provide participants with key information around the identification and management of wellbeing and child protection concerns. Participants will examine their own role and responsibilities in the child protection process alongside the role of others and will gain a deeper understanding of the current policy, procedures, guidance, and legislation that assist us in the effective protection of children.

Expected outcomes/ key learning:

  • To be aware of and know how to source the key procedures, policies, guidance, and legislation that can assist us in the protection of children
  • To understand what child abuse is, what areas of concern may be around for a child and how to identify them
  • To raise awareness of current national and local child protection/safeguarding themes
  • To know what action to take if you are worried a child is being abused or is at risk of abuse and what your role and the role of others is in the child protection process

About Love Is...

Love Is... a public training programme focused on community organising. Building more expansive ideas of what love is and can be, Love Is… aims to further a more collaborative and community-wide culture of learning, one that is rooted in generosity and in sharing our resources. What happens when we think of love as an active force, a route to social justice and community connection? What would it mean to approach training as a strong network of organisations and individuals in Huntly, together, as a town?

About the COMMUNITY programme

COMMUNITY asks what does it mean to be in community with others? How do we bridge differences and build coalitions towards shared goals and values? How do we work together in ways that don't replicate harmful systems? How do we hold each other to account and shift power dynamics in our town? Through this work we aim to foster rebellious, empowered and self-determining communities who are equipped to respond to the global polycrisis with empathy, solidarity and a global perspective.
