New ‘Town Collection’ route and art map launch
The Town Collection is a collection of artworks from artists in residence at Deveron Projects over the last 28 years. With over 80 artworks, the collection tells a story of the town and the organisation through the lens of local, national and international socially-engaged artists who lived and worked in Huntly. Instead of being held inside one building/gallery, the artworks are placed across the town, hosted by local businesses, schools, churches, riverbanks and other indoor and outdoor spaces, growing as a collection with every new project. To coincide with new artworks installed across town, and highlighting more recent projects, we also created an updated Town Collection map. A newly curated route of Town Collection artworks features fourteen distinct artworks from past projects and including a nod to more recent artist residencies, mapping and connecting the town and the organisation's history through the work made by artists living and working in Huntly over the last 28 years. We invited our audiences to join us for the launch at the Huntly Farmers' Market in August 2023 with family-friendly activities and guided walks: 10am - 10.30am - Selected tour of artworks from the new map11.30am - 1.00pm - Full tour of artworks from the new map From Wednesday, 9th of August, the free maps will be available in six locations: Huntly Rail Station lobby (Mon-Sat, 6.50am-1.54pm)Orb's Bookshop (10 ½, The Square, Huntly AB54 8BR, Mon-Sat, 10am-4pm)Huntly Library (The Square, Huntly AB54 8BR, open Tue-Sat, please follow this link for the specific times)
