What If? at the Goethe Institut
See a screening of What If?, Manaf’s play created with resettled Syrian refugees and Huntly residents, showing a meeting between two representatives planning the split, followed by an Artist Talk.
The Sykes-Picot Agreement, 1916, involved the drawing of borderlines in the Middle East by French and British diplomats. Consequences of the deal are felt heavily a century later, but what if there was a different history? Manaf Halbouni is working with Deveron Projects in Huntly to create an alternative timeline, fictionalising a world where the Ottoman Empire and United States of Arabia split Europe instead.
Hosted by the Goethe Institut, see their website for more details.
