Food Chain: Filipino boodle fight
Join the boodle fight at this month’s Food Chain with Angela Rivera and Miko Llorca who are sharing some Filipino home-cooked classics. Boodle fight is a communal meal that's all about connecting with each other. The meal typically includes a range of dishes beautifully arranged on a table draped in banana leaves, with rice and fruit, and is eaten together ‘kamayan style’ (with bare hands). For this boodle fight Angela and Miko will be sharing some of their favourite recipes including Huntly Express, Vegetarian Gising-Gising, and Tofu Sisig. Huntly Express is their local version of a dish called Bicol Express and is cooked with pork belly, shrimp paste and coconut cream. Vegetarian Gising-Gising is a comforting vegetable stew (vegan and gluten free) with green beans and coconut cream. Tofu Sisig (also vegan and gluten free) is a deep fried dish with crispy tofu, onions and peppers.

About Food Chain
Food Chain is a community-led workshop celebrating the diversity of home cooking in Huntly. Each month we cook with a community member who shares a recipe that is meaningful to them. Once we have prepared the dish, we will sit and enjoy eating it together. It's an informal and fun event that anyone is welcome to join in but please book your space as Food Chain is very popular!
About the Home Programme
This event is part of our HOME Programme. Through regular events and artists’ residencies, HOME supports the everyday and creative practices of cooking and eating, chatting and caring, sharing skills and learning together. HOME regular events include Friday Lunch, as well as the monthly Food Chain cookery workshop and a stall at the Huntly Farmers' Market. These events celebrate local knowledge and experiences, and explore what it's like to live and work in and around Huntly. Through this work we aim to build more complex understandings of Huntly and its place in the world. If you'd like to contribute to the HOME Programme, or know someone who you'd love to hear from, then get in touch with us on: info@deveron-projects.com.
