For this month’s Food Chain, we will be cooking vegetable tempura and udon noodle soup with community member Harry Osbaldiston. Harry has been inspired to cook Japanese food after his recent visit to Kyoto and Tokyo. As part of this visit Harry was hosted by local families to share time with them and learn some home cooking. Tempura is a method of deep-frying with a light batter and the udon noodle soup will be made with a chicken broth. There will be gluten free and vegan alternatives for both dishes.

Food Chain is free to attend, but we donations of up to £5 towards the cost of ingredients are very welcome.

Allergens & Dietary notes 

We usually offer vegan and gluten free options for the Food Chain dishes. Please let us know if you are vegetarian/vegan/gf on booking. Food at this event is prepared in a kitchen that may have traces of nuts, seeds, gluten, dairy and other allergens. Accessibility

We expect Food Chain to be lively with up to 18 people. Often there are lots of different people at the event who can speak different languages. Please don’t worry if English is not your first language.

This is a family friendly event and children are very welcome to participate.

About Food Chain

Food Chain is a monthly community-led cookery workshop, celebrating the diversity of cultures and cuisines within our local communities. It's an informal, fun and friendly event, in which a member of our local community in Huntly shares a recipe that means something to them and reminds them of home. Once we have cooked the dish, we will sit and enjoy eating it together. Anyone is welcome to join in, but please book your space as these events are popular!

About the Home Programme

This event is part of our HOME programme. Through regular events and artists’ residencies, HOME supports the everyday and creative practices of cooking and eating, chatting and caring, sharing skills and learning together. HOME regular events include Friday Lunch, as well as the monthly Food Chain and a stall at the Huntly Farmers' Market. These events celebrate local knowledge and experiences, and explore what it's like to live and work in and around Huntly. Through this work we aim to build more complex understandings of Huntly and its place in the world.
